The Rising Sun Coltishall
The Rising Sun is a traditional riverside pub, restaurant and B&B in the Norfolk Broads. Adjacent to Coltishall Common, we are a popular destination for both locals and tourists looking for good food and a relaxing drink overlooking the delightful River Bure.
Enjoy our Food
Our extensive menu has something for everyone, from our take on pub classics to authentic wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas.
Authentic Neapolitan Pizza
Our pizzas are made in the traditional Neapolitan style, hand-stretched before being topped with homemade tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella, then cooked in the wood-fired oven – which burns at 450-500 degrees Celsius – for only a few minutes. The end result is a pizza with a thin centre, a crust that is crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and a fine balance of quality toppings – traits that are typical of an authentic Neapolitan pizza.
Food is served 12pm-8pm Monday to Saturday and 12pm-7pm Sunday.
Experience our Rooms
In January 2020 we launched our four newly renovated luxury rooms, with views over the River Bure and Coltishall Common.
Dog Policy
We are a dog-friendly pub and welcome well-behaved dogs on leads in the main bar and seating area, patio and garden, but they are not permitted in the River Room.
When visiting with your dog we ask that owners be sensitive to other guests. If a dog needs food or water please take them outside where water bowls are provided.
And ask about our doggy ice cream!
Celebrations
Unfortunately, due to a lack of facilities in which to keep them safe until required, we can no longer accept cakes brought in by customers. As an alternative we are very happy to provide candles and plates decorated with a celebratory message for the special person(s), should they wish to order dessert. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience or upset this may cause, and thank you for your understanding.

Private Dining Rooms
Our sister pub The Recruiting Sergeant, less than a mile away in Horstead, has two private dining rooms which may be more suitable for business meetings or larger parties.
Local Area
Coltishall is a bustling riverside village that is sometimes referred to as the ‘Gateway to the Broads’, as it marks the start of the navigable portion of the River Bure. A contender for one of the most picturesque spots throughout Broadland, Coltishall Common is bounded by attractive properties on one side and acres of stunning marshland on the other, while we are lucky to have numerous walks and cycle routes on our doorstep.
Free Moorings
Coltishall Common features a 230-metre stretch of moorings managed by the Broads Authority. These are free for 24 hours and cannot be booked in advance – click the link for more details.
